Charles Houston Recreation Center has been certified LEED Gold

Costello Construction is pleased to announce that the Charles Houston Recreation Center has been certified LEED Gold. Originally slated for LEED Silver, the combined efforts of the architect, general contractor and City of Alexandria fostered the success of this project and enabled the certification of LEED Gold.

Costello Construction built the new 35,000 square foot, steel frame single story building in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. The center includes a gymnasium, dance room, fitness room, boxing room, children’s game room, computer lab, outdoor swimming pool, senior center and a community meeting room. As a LEED Gold building, the Center features a vegetated green roof, a bio filtration system and energy efficient HVAC systems and lighting. Costello Construction self performed the site work, concrete slabs, curb and gutter, sidewalks, installation of green roof and installation of toilet accessories.
