Enoch Pratt Library

Enoch Pratt Library

Baltimore, Maryland

Project Size: 51,000 square feet

Value Classification: $10-$15m

Owner: State of Maryland

Architect: Ayers Saint Gross Inc.

Project Description:

Enoch Pratt Annex was a 4 story addition to the MD State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (LBPH), which Costello Construction had completed roughly a decade prior. The project was extraordinarily complicated due to converting a single story wing of the LBPH to 4 stories while the LBPH remained in full service. Physical features of the addition include a deep foundation system, steel frame, natural limestone veneer and extensive bronze curtain walls. The interior, high-end finishes include custom maple millwork, custom lighting fixtures, terrazzo flooring and a soaring clerestory. Costello Construction completed all demolition, excavation, utilities, paving and concrete with its own forces. The Library Resource Center was completed on time and without disruption to either the existing Enoch Pratt Library or the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
