Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza Wins Gold Award From National Magazine, Building Design and Construction

August 1, 2011– Columbia, MD – Costello Construction is the proud recipient of the prestigious Gold Award given by the national magazine, Building Design + Construction. The Gold Award is provided for exemplary performance in planning and construction, which represents the elite in newly completed construction projects from around the Nation. The Civic Building project was second only to two Platinum Projects; a 33-story Office Building in Chicago, IL and a LEED Platinum Plus building for the U.S. Department of Energy, in Golden CO.

The panel of judges was comprised of professionals from reputable and internationally recognized Architectural, Engineering and Construction Institutions, including Timothy Brown, AIA Studio Associate Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology, who said “It’s more than a building: There’s an integration of constructed public spaces both indoors and outdoors. There is a very high level of design with so many vectors to it. A remarkable achievement.”
