The single story building is a combination of load bearing masonry, structural steel framing, tilt-up panels, cast in place walls and a limestone and metal panel veneer. The Museum features an extensive glass curtain wall system and slope glazed skylight system, all designed to meet the stringent Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection requirements of the Unified Facilities Criteria 4-010-01. The building also includes an extensive vapor barrier system and HVAC system designed for exceptionally strict climate control. Under BRAC, the Museum, which houses over 25 million artifacts, is now located at the Forest Glen Annex in Silver Spring, Maryland. |
