Elizabeth House III

Project Description

Costello Construction proudly delivered Elizabeth House III, the first phase of the transformative Elizabeth Square development in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Developed by the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County, this landmark $134 million, 420,000 GSF mixed-use project serves as a model for integrated, community-focused development—combining affordable senior housing with wellness and recreational amenities in one dynamic space.

At the heart of the project is a 17-story residential tower featuring 267 affordable senior apartments, thoughtfully designed to support comfortable, independent living for older adults. Residents benefit from access to a Senior Wellness Center, along with a 130,000 SF state-of-the-art recreation center, designed to serve both building residents and the broader community.

The recreation center includes three public community pools, a fully equipped fitness center, locker rooms, flexible meeting and classroom spaces, and a primary care medical facility, promoting a holistic approach to wellness. Underground parking ensures accessibility and convenience for all users. Designed by KGD Architecture, Elizabeth House III reflects a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, earning LEED Silver Certification. As part of its hands-on approach, Costello Construction self-performed demolition, rough carpentry, and site concrete, contributing directly to the project’s quality and execution.
