A part of Montgomery County’s “Smart Growth Initiative,” this LEED Silver designed project involved the construction of a new office and food distribution facility for Montgomery County Public Schools. It also includes a 450-space, 5-story parking facility with a 14,000 sf Shared Utility Plant in the lower level.
The county uses this 77,000 square foot facility building to prepare and distribute food to all 202 of Montgomery County Public Schools, which serve more than 150,000 students. In addition to a large kitchen and freezer area for food preparation and 17 docking bays to facilitate loading and distribution, it houses 2 floors of administrative office space.
The parking facility is constructed of a combination of CIP concrete foundations, walls, structural slabs, slabs on grade, precast concrete and concrete topping slabs. The lower level of the detached parking garage contained the central plant for the entire facility as well as future phases of the master planned complex.
